    which radiator?

I'm pretty sure the radiator in the D2 is clogged up. hot n cool spots randomly across the face of the rad. it was rodded out 12 months ago, but i think it's still marginal.

    I have a few options.
new stock radiator - $330 plus postage
Aussie Desert Cooler - Outback Extreme $1050 plus postage
Allisport - Discovery 2 V8 Alloy Radiator direct replacement $900 plus postage

Aussie Desert Cooler replied to my email, which is a good sign, but on the internet there are a few bad stories.
Allisport have not replied to my email, which is not a good sign, but on the internet, there are lots of good stories.

im keen to hear from people if they have used either or have any thoughts about going stock vs aftermarket.

I replaced mine 7 years ago with a cheap bearmach aftermarket(the price for a V8 one is aprox. the equivalent of 200 AU$ in UK) i thought if it lasts 5 years for that price i'm pleased and everything beyond that is bonus cos after more than 8 years i'd better change it again with new anyway

PWRin Queensland are about the same price as Aussie Desert Coolers, but I've not heard any bad reports about them. Cheers

If I was paying that much for an alloy rad I'd look at some form of soft mounting to allow for some flex in the body,,
Having said that, some of the cheaper alloy ones aparently dont quite bolt straight up,,
and 330 for an original is good value I think,,

Have you compared original rad size to D2 size Eevo? amount of fluid held?

We replaced the original radiator in the D1 with a standard replacement and it worked fine, including towing the camper to Cape York and crossing the Simpson, so don't assume more expensive is necessarily better.

It should be fine. Does yours have a transmission oil cooler?

    NATRAD for me.

A generalisation I know, I was informed that alloy radiators are too brittle and crack.

There was an alloy radiator in my D2a when I bought it, it had cracked core to tank both top and bottom.

1 bolt mounting it at the top, zip tie on the other side because the holes didn't line up.

I will stay with NATRAD they fit and are efficient.

    Cheers

    Mike
