We have removed the cylinder heads & found the gasket has blown & the cylinder head will need servicing, reface, pressure test & crack test. The heads will need to be acid bathed as they have a very large
amount of sludge in the engine. Oil galleries from the block to cylinder head were completely blocked due to carbon & sludge. We would need to remove the engine sump to clean sump & oil pick up pipe. The vehicle appears to have missed a few oil changes in it's life. The hydraulic lifters are worn out due to lack of lubrication & would require replacing.
The Spark plugs & Leads require replacing as they are very worn, the outlet pipe on the top of the radiator is cracked, the plastic has gone rotten/soft possibly due to overheating/age. Radiator replacement is required (looks like someone may have tried to superglue it up in the past) Also recommended to replace 2x idlers & main belt tensioner which are noisy to spin as well as fan belt.
Nothing visibly wrong with the water pump, however, you may wish to replace it while we are in the area. Also a recommendation to fit a low coolant level alarm. Subject to the cylinder head service cost, the total for everything including the optional water pump/coolant alarm is around $4500
As I have serviced the engine every 10,000k's it looks like I am paying for the previous owners neglect and I am somewhat peeved that the sorry condition of the radiator wasn't picked up when I had it serviced at natrad a couple of years ago.
