Is the carrier held onto the door with nuts & bolts, or are the female threads captive?
Drape a wet bag or thick towel behind it and weld it "in situ".
It's only thin metal so it shouldn't need to be welded both sides.
I don't know about that sort of thing Mate, I could be wrong but just disconnecting the battery is what I would do.
This is the first car I have owned that is run by a computer so I don't know the answer to that, Maybe one our learned colleges will pop in with the answer [thumbsupbig]
Only the company that gave us an overhead inlet/side exhaust valve engine could come up with a vehicle that has three different types of wheel nuts.[bigwhistle]
Just be thankful LR didn't go for LH thread wheel nuts for the passenger side then the vehicle would have five different types of wheel nut (or 6 if you count the one behind the wheel[wink11])
