Don't want to get too involved in this ****ing contest, but there is absolutely no comparison between the Alloy Head 4.1 Ford engine from the XD in 1980 and the 4.0 Barra introduced in the BA, apart from bore centres. On that basis, you might as well compare the Chev LS3 with the engine from a '53 Corvette, as the same thing applies.

I wouldn't use Chemi-Weld, as it never lived up to it's promise. Ran an ex taxi EF on IronTite for around two years though. Never tried either on a diesel.

It was just what Repco had that was cheap after the silver seal did not work and it worked if it had not of worked i would of pulled the head then.



So the bodge lasted around 9 months including a half hour trip running at a steady 105 deg when the thermostat failed and wouldn't open up at the correct temp and the head was only pulled after decided to keep the car for 4wding rather then get something new or something around the same age that probably has issues as well

*It wasnt a ****ing contest.
*Was just stating you can't compare fixing a low compression petrol tractor engine with a bottle of "u-buet fix it" trying to apply it to any high compression diesel engine.
*Hell, on a petrol engine with a soft head, screw it down that bit tighter will also work as a bodgey fix, again that wont work on a diesel engine.
*A soft cylinder head wont move much on a petrol engine, but it will warp and move quite a lot on a diesel until it fails again, just like with the OPs pic of the broken head gasket.

*I actually care less what the OP does, merely stating so other people know, that on a diesel this is not a long term successful repair.

The ONLY long term fix is to take the head/heads off , ensure that they are not cracked or warped and refit using new head gasket/gaskets.
Chemiweld or Any other snake oil concoction is NOT by any stretch of the imagination a Long term fix.
