I left mine on the vehicle and carefully masked around/newspapers, cleaned up with a little turps. Too humid to paint today and rain forecast the next few days so not sure when I will get to do my gloss clear coat, but will have photos when I am able!

I used to think that the D2 looked better with flares but now I think they are better without!

I have used a product called Back to Black, got off ebay, on plastic and such with good results.

A heat gun works well based on you tube videos to restore plastic parts. Heats the surface enough to melt aawy the white fading.
I am yet to try it myself but there are lots of videos of it doing a great job.

    Reconditioning flares

Mine have faded and look a bit ordinary so was wondering if something like Plastidip or something on them? Still in good nick just the fading so dont really need a new set. Cheers Brett
I suggest you leave them on but protect the duco with tape first.
Sand them back, then when you think they are good, sand them again with finer grit.
Then get one of the products mentioned and apply it.
there are plenty of hints on youtube too.
    Cheers

You could also apply/spray 'Primer Surfacer' (available from Auto-One etc) before final sanding and coating. I've found this excellent for eliminating any minor imperfections and giving a good sound base for the final coat/s.

McGuire's Gold Class Trim Detailer - it is amazing! It's a thick white cream that soaks into faded plastics and somehow brings it all back. I even used it my vinyl spare wheel cover that I was going to throw away because it looked so faded and crappy. This brought it all back to black. My side mirrors that had basically gone grey/white - this stuff brought them back to a more than reasonable finish. It even worked on my wheel arches that were in a really bad way (sort of porous along with being faded and patchy). They had also been painted at some stage, but I gently rubbed them back and applied a few coasts of this stuff and they came up more than acceptable. I find I do need to give the badly faded trims about 3 applications over a couple of days initially. Then every so often, I just rub a bit more in to bring it all back. I use it very sparingly too, a little goes a really long way. In fact I use it by putting on disposable gloves and then rubbing the cream into the parts with my hands - leave it for a couple of minutes only, then buff off with a clean cloth. This process worked especially well with the wheel arches and the vinyl wheel cover (maybe because they are more porous).
