D2 TD5 Auto RPMs for gear shift

    Hi guys,

New here and had a quick search but couldn't find much. It's been a while since I've owned a diesel or 4WD and wanted to see what RPMs you normally get to on each gear shift. I've been a bit paranoid because my Pajero's auto gearbox started to go right as I sold it years ago and the Disco I bought seems to get pretty loud on shifts. It hasn't gone over 3000rpms before changing but wanted to see what you think is the normal range?

    Cheers,
    John

    Hi John,

Couple of questions to give us a better idea on how best to offer advice.

    How many KM?
Do you know the last time to auto was service?

I changed my ATF after purchasing and it made massive difference to the way the auto operated and shifted, much smoother etc....
I've almost changed all the AFT out with three change, auto holds 9.7 litres from dry and if you do the servicing yourself it'll take approximately 4 changes to swap the old for new as the torque converter retains a lot of the AFT when you do a change.

There's several posts on here regarding this (I'll also see if i can find these links to help??)

Hope this helps to get some info and a better idea on the d2

    Cheers Lemo

It's done 195,000. Not sure about how long ago the auto was serviced.. I think he said something like 10 to 20,000kms but not sure.. that sounds like a while ago to me. I'm thinking the next move will be getting the ATF done. Could be my first project with it...

Thanks Lemo, yeah the links are great, feel free to send them through and I'll read through them. Cheers
