Lightbulb Window wipers & minor cowl warp

Ok, I need to make a post on the forum within a year, or I'm off - so here is a newbie question.

I've recently upgraded from a Subaru Outback to a 2004 D2 TD5 and am loving it. Big thanks to the Pete and Glen at Roving Mechanical for their help so far (highly recommended for Sydney folks).

I noticed my wipers weren't working that well and were on the way out - so I purchased some new blades on eBay and replaced both front and back. All fine with the replacement (those clips are a little flimsy though) but when I was putting them on I noticed that the wiper with the spoiler is on the passenger side.
My first thought was that the driver's side wiper arm must have been replaced at some stage and it was simply missing the spoiler.
Being a new owner and "car symmetry" being extremely important, I jumped on the interweb to see if I could source a drivers side wiper arm with a spoiler. There are a few pairs about, but what I noticed was that when they are sold second hand only one arm had the spoiler - so now I think that my wipers are on the wrong way around. And after driving around in the wet yesterday, I think they probably are as the wipers were both missing areas of the windscreen. My question, when sold new, did the D2 have wiper spoilers on both sides or only the driver's side - or is there some bonkers reason why it's on the passenger side only? (I'll be swapping them over anyway, but some confirmation would be good).

I also noticed a small dent in the front window cowl, and the cowl is slightly warped - looks like a golf ball has hit it. The rubber seal between the cowl and the window at that point has come away ever so slightly from the windscreen over about 3 cm; it's possible that when it gets wet, water is getting underneath that seal as it's not completely flush (I wouldn't think it would be much water though). I've done a little bit of research online and have mixed reports as to whether this could be an issue. So my question, should I be worried about this?

    Thanks.

The wiper with spoiler goes on the driver's side.
You are not alone with a warped plenum cover.
I reckon nearly all are like that, even if they are not cracked or broken.
The only downside I can see , is that if the car is parked facing uphill, water can enter the ventilation opening which is on the passenger side , and you will have a wet floor after rain. The steel panel under the plastic panel has drains so water is expected to get through.
There is a fix to build a little dam around the opening.
I sikaflexed the seal onto my screen when I fitted a new/old plenum cover but still had some water in after a big downpour .

If the seal is not contacting the windscreen on the passenger side you will end up with water coming in through the fresh air intake and ending with a wet floor i have seen it a few times

    There's a spoiler?

I don't have one on the windscreen wiper. Any one got the part number? Lrparts.ru/engl seems to have died

    Thanks

The little aerofoil on the wiper on my D2a is on the drivers side and is a PITA, It wipes perfectly on the upstroke But on the downstroke it leaves small streaks of water.
This is probably why the OP's wipers have been swapped around.
As for the cracked plenium cover, Yes I have that as well
