I have a non-Land Rover friend in Pt Augusta. I'll ask them later today.
How long would it be for?

On my last two long trips (7,500km and 11,500km) I took them out and freed up some much needed room in my D1, so not much different to your situation. My advice would be definitely lose the rear seats if a forum member can babysit them for you - not just for weight, but to give yourself some extra room! The RTT you can't do much about, especially with head/crosswinds as they kill your fuel economy. Ask me how I know, especially with a 300 Tdi!
Although realistically your not going to save much. I have a 2nd row drivers side D2 seat in my driveway (because doesn't everyone?). It's 34kg. So question is, is a 50kg saving worth the hassle?
I would've thought thats illegal to have baby sitting on the seats while your away , shouldn't they be at least supervised ?
if it's just the space your after , couldn't you just bolt the seat to the roof and put sis up there, sort of like grandma in ...was it family vacation[bigwhistle]
That's my issue is time, hence I thought about getting rid as I'll be heading g up to Darwin over the next few months cross cross the out back....so if someone was to babysit it would be a while so prob too much of an ask!! .....would be fantastic if you had a area to shove em' mind.....
Done. She's happy to store your seats. I'll pm you her details now
