    Discovery 2nd row seat weights??

    Hey folks,

My epic 'Disco to Darwin's trip is under way and I'm learning the camping set up as I go, question - does anybody know the rough weights of the 2nd row passenger seats?
I'm very heavy and thinking of removing and sending home to reduce my 15l per 100km fuel usage and get closer to the gvm!! And also help with packing in the rear....

    Thanks in advance.....

Heavy! T50 bit needed. just do it,,,
Keep them off the floor and preferable away from mice etc,,,

funnily enough, after removing 4 rear seats and adding two manifold (triple tank on rear floor, twin underneath) LPG tanks,,
    I've come out about square

I figured heavy!! Hence I'm wanting to get rid....my issue being is ijm already ok a big trip north and wanting to courier back to Melbourne from Adelaide so rough weight needed to see what will cost!! They have to go as nobody is seating there and cars a bit too heavy...I should have done before leaving but that's not the case now...haha

They are heavy And Bulky so I imagine that the freight cost would be pretty expensive, Dropping them of at a members place sounds like a great idea.
Make sure that you put the mounting bolts back after you have taken the seats out to stop dust/water ingress into the truck
You will not only lighten the load by removing the seats you will gain a massive amount of space as well and the carpet/sound proofing remains in place after the seats are removed as well.
Unfortunately I doubt that the removal of the seats will have any dramatic effect on your fuel consumption because the weight of the seats is only a small percentage of the overall weight of the truck.
I have a V8 D2a and 15/100l is my usual fuel consumption, If yours is a TD5 then there is maybe some other reason for the high fuel costs.

Im guessing the cause is the roof top tent causing wind drag that is having the biggest effect on fuel consumption not weight

I'm currently only 200km north east of Adelaide and was thinking of heading down towards port Augusta so Adelaide isn't too far off the track......baby sitting of the seats would be very much appreciated if that's an option....

Certainly wind drag is my biggest issue, I'm going to change the angle of the solar panels on the roof to act as a kinda wind deflector for the tent.....weight is also an issue, I'm fully loaded with kit for the journey and coming in just over 2950kg....which is over gvm I know but with the sis in the rear she rides well and looks far from loaded!! I know being over is a little naughty but it is 2hat it is now........hence losing the seats will help maybe bring me at least closer to the gvm....
