That's fair 'nuff, but the damn thing came apart whilst trying to undo it(both our first time) .. so maybe someone 'over tightened it' at some point in the past.

that's more than likely, the only success i've had undoing over tightened bleeders is holding the base with one pair of pliers and undoing the bleeder with another

That's the one my brother fitted to his TD5.
I thought the bottom hose junction had a steel fitting tho.
To be honest I didn't really look at it well enough to remember .. and could be confusing it with my 300 Tdi silicon hose, which does have the bottom steel junction.

The only thing he'd done a bit incorrect was that the top steel junction was fitted in a manner that the small top hose rubs on the AC connector or something.
I fitted a solid rubber off cut between the hose and metal part it was rubbing on. Short term fix just to save the hose for now. Will re jig it next time we have to do any work involving the coolant system tho.

Can vouch the genuine hose solves the problem of rubbing, replace mine a month or so ago.
Could also use some hydraulic line wrap to isolate/protect if the original hose is still ok?

    Top hose bleeder thread size

Anybody know what the thread size is on the bleeder? Don't want to remove the stub until i have something to replace it with.

Here is an emergency fix that I did which lasted two years. I removed the leaking insert and found a course threaded bolt bigger than the hole.

I drilled and tapped a thread for the bleed screw and then screwed the bolt into the rubber hose.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."
