    ChanginggGlobe behind km reading ??

    Gday All ,

father in laws D2a has had the light behind the window that shows the amount of Kms travelled and from memory even has the gear the car is in displayed fail so it can't be seen at night I am doing this from memory but think it's in the bottom of the speedo or tachometer, has anyone changed this ? Is it a dash out job or pretty straight forward .

    thanks in advance Cheers Ean

You have to remove the instrument pack and change the grey one at the bottom (YAW100020) or you can change the small t5 bulb in the holder

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

    x2.
My TD5 had exactly the same issue when I bought it (in daytime!).
One additional thing: I think the illumination globe has a green, soft green plastic sleeve on it.
In case the replacement globe does not come with this, carefully "peel" this sleeve off the old globe, so you can fit it to the replacement one.

Also do NOT turn the instrument panel upside down as doing this may damage the damper on the fuel gauge.

The plastic tabs on the binnacle are easily broken so be careful pulling it off.

Clarification of my earlier post above. From the workshop manual "CAUTION: The instrument packets not be stored on its face side at any time. This is because the dials have damping fluid within them to ensure smooth operation of the dials' indicator needles. This fluid will leak out."
