Replacement aftermarket gauges - electronic or mechanical?

Hells Bells - 2nd try - version 1 just disappeared into the ether as I was about to post!!

In my D2, I'm replacing a broken electronic triple gauge made by autronics - and since bought out by redarc.
Looks something like this one, although mine had amps in lieu of a secondary temp option - not that I could ever get the Hall Effect part to work anyway. Plus the redarc versions are quite expensive.

Which way to go, again electronic, or go mechanical?

No idea if my existing electronic sensors are re-usable in either scenario, but if going mechanical was thinking of something like this.

    Any words from the wise?
    Cheers Gavin

Im also in the market for gauges, so watching with interest. The Redarc look good & is a good local company, but they're expensive.

Ta. I should have mentioned that I have a digital EGT low coolant alarm and permanently mounted Nanocom Evo, so already have most info that I want (water temp being the most critical because of the stupid LR version not moving until 120 degrees celcius plus, along with EGT).

So the EMS is a bit of overkill for me, albeit it is under consideration for the RRC/TD5 with Nanocom and EGT.

    Since when?

And why would a mechanical thermometer be dangerous?
I can sort of unterstand an oil pressure gauge which is why some racing series mandated stainless braided hose if installed in a cockpit.

Not trying to be a smart arse, just asking.

Found the SAAS dual gauges on special at Super Crap, so fitting the Pyro/boost ($118) one at the moment. Had mechanical guage's in all my early cars but like electric/electronic ones now, much easier to fit and include alarm functions.

Doesn't say they're not allowed, just that they must be mounted so they don't spray the windshield if their hoses break.
What's the source of that document?
