No, not at all. The CDL works either way, but sometimes the conditions mean that maybe you are better off without the electronic intervention. That’s when you would switch off.

Oh, of course switching it off also disables HDC as well.

That would only happen if you had driven on a hard surface long enough to produce 4WD wind up.

    Hey,
I think the sequence for switching on and off is to do with the earlier D2s and the slabs unit limiting/disabling the TC and ABS if you don't cut the wire to the slabs or when a switch was installed.
This won't affect the face lift models as the slabs was updated.
I put a later one in mine so I didn't have to do switch wire cut mods when installing a CDL to my 2002

My question is two fold. Can someone explain to me when the dash light(s) should be on and off when using the CDL because I have NO dashlight like I have seen on google not even when I turn the key (when all dashlights should be on). Is there maybe a plug or something that I should connect up? I am not too sure how the electronics should behave/work with the CDL engaged.

Second part of the question is (this is a very newbie question): When should I NOT use the CDL? Can I use the CDL together with lockers?

    Thank you

    Danny
    Hi Danny,

Have a read of this re the install and wire cut method.

You can always get a new/second hand slabs unit from a 2003/2004 D2 and this negates the need to do this and give you an updated slabsCDL usage and light

Hi, the switch is there on the transfer case's front left side, C0306/0307(attached)

there are cases when the wiring is not there (usually on facelifts but can be on others too) but if it is you should find two female spade connectors hanging there one with simple black the other with black/blue wire, for test join them together with a paperclip and turn ignition on, the warning should come on then, if it does connect them to the switch and if the warning comes on this way without CDL engaged swap them on the switch... if you can't find the wiring we'll speak then

Yep 10 mm spanner on the spigot and turn the spanner anti clockwise when looking from underneath ( towards the chassis to engage diff lock , shouldn't matter which way round the spade terminals are as it's a simple switch , If the light is on all the time when connected adjust the switch ( unscrew and lock it with the locknut when adjusted correctly).

one side of it is earthed via fixing so it matters, it's earthed the same way like the oil pressure switch, even if it has two wires connected only one is needed on the proper pin, the earth wire is a kind of backup only

    Thanks

    Hey guys,

Thank you all for your replies and suggestions. I got the CDL selector mechanism today and will fit it as soon as possible. I have taken a pic of it but am not sure I am allowed to post pics yet.
