    Flashing B....

Hi all, I have just replaced the factoey radio/cd player in my 02Td5. Got an ISO plug and wired up everything and works like a charm but.... I went to drive the vehicle and i get a flashing B on the gear selected display and get a constant bong bong sound.. Is there a code or something I need to enter, cause the car starts but central locking doesn't work either.. Cheers Brett

I can't help with the faults, but it shpuldn't have interrupted anything.

I did the same thing recently with a Pioneer head unit and it works and Bluetooth's well.

found this on google some one had a flashing B.

Had to take it to the dealer. Turns out their is a short in the fuse box. They said they need to rerplace the IDM? cost with labor $780. (that takes care of the goofy flashing B in the dash warning light, and the loss of signals and power windows) They also said I need a new SAI pump and (2) 02 sensors. $630 for the SAI and $569 respectively. Total cost to repair if I decide to do it $1979. Ugh!

Just checked behind the glovebox and dry as a church during prohibition. Will check the indicator bulbs tomorrow to see if any are blown. I think there is a link with a list of members with diagnostic equipment but im unable to find it. Could someone help me out? Cheers Brett

That flashing B is a nightmare and the symptoms can be different from one to anoter, i've seen it myself an a few D2s, had it myself too and in my case it was the BCU, my aproximative statistic of failures based on my experience and many posts about it is:
-35% IDM(interior fusebox)... even if it has no signs of water it can have corrosion within
-64% BCU(suspect in your case due to the no crank issue)
-1% the data link between them(that's hard to diagnose)
it can't be diagnosed with tester, the easy way is to replace the interior fusebox first to be ruled out cos it's plug and play, the only requirement is to disconnect battery before the swap then afte the reconnection turn ignition on II and let it so 5 minutes...if the fusebox doesnt fix it next is the BCU but this one needs complex programming... though using second hand units it's not so expensive i've seen fuseboxes below 50 dollars and BCUs around 100, i'm afraid that in your case the BCU the problem cos the IDM would not stop it crank but nothing is certain with this fault cos if the IDM and BCU lost communication the immobiliser kicks in
