Thanks for the idea. I have the tap and helicoil, I'm waiting for a drill for the reduced shaft and the handle of the tap to get so you can drill the hole, touch it and insert the helicoil.
    Cheers tt

    ...I like google translations....
It translated "tap" with "rubinetto", which of course is the most common meaning, except that it doesn't work here, where we have no bathrooms, basins and the like.
The tap which makes a thread should be translated with "maschio", but once again google will be in dire straits, as it would probably translate "maschio" with "male", which is correct 99% of the times but not in this instance...

I decided to leave the Italian speaking wife alone, as she would know a tap from a die.

So just to confirm the TD5 sump plug thread is definitely M16x1.5?
Any idea on the length of the thread(if someone has a sump plug handy to measure.

Reason I ask is that I'm looking to update brother's TD5 plug with a Femco click drain plug, and need to know which thread type to order.

    Hi AK83,
THREAD length is 9 mm, total reach of the combined threaded and plain sections is 15 mm (minus the thickness of the copper washer that you use).
    Cheers,

So a 12mm or 14mm should do nicely.
