Cheers to all you guys.
It is nice to know when you have a problem there is so much help at hand even though none of you came up with the actual problem.
The NRMA guy wondered what was up when I tried to start it after he had helped me clean all the oil out of the wiring connections. I jumped out of the car with expletives flying, he was most relieved to find it was only fuel required.
Yep, bled the system and away we went.

Good to hear you got it sorted, but at least you got your cleaning done, it probably would have bit you sooner or later if not done.
Some one needs to invent a Provent for the harness.
