Weird Electrical problem with fuel filter sensor

Its on a 2002 and it has a guard I dont think you would damage it easily

Well I stand corrected.
They normally break (crack) on removal and as mentioned are expensive, the norm is to remove.
I had also thought on the later D2a it was removed, but my 2004 disco still has one.

I really think its one of them hit and miss Land Rover things, 2 Defenders in today a 2000, 2002, neither have the harness plug for the water sensor.

Mine is an extreme not sure if that makes a difference?

I had the same problem a few weeks ago until the Nanocom logged a code "top side switch failed". Car would only crank with no glow plug or engine light. Swapped ecu out for another one and it fired up.

Tried the ECU in another disco and wouldn't work. Anyway just letting you know I have had similar problems. Getting a new NNN ecu wasn't fun.

That's a well known code for failed ECU, IMO not the case for the problem described in this thread
