Hi, read through this: CDL usage and light
I recently had a factory D2A CDL linkage fitted to my 2000 D2 TD5.
Am I right that when CDL is engaged that traction control is disabled?
If so, can a switch be installed that reengaged traction control with CDL engaged?

If you lock the diff while the ignition is on the TC will be retained if you turn ignition on with locked diff the TC will be disabled.... simple as that no need to cut wires cos then the TC will be always active and there are cases when it can work against the locked diff and loose all motion or overheat the brakes

(out of curiosity)
If this is the case, then say you initially lock the diff with ignition on(to retain TC), and then switched off, when you switch ignition back on, does the BCU remember the last condition(ie. TC enabled), or does it automagically change the TC situation to be disabled now?
I would have thought that traction control enabled all the time would make more sense(on a std vehicle) as it'd still be useful to limit axle wheels spinning. ... or doesn't the TC work on an axle by axle basis?

The system doesn't "remember", it applies the state as it finds it. Thus, if you switch off, and say go for a walk, and return, if the system finds that the diff is locked on startup it will disengage TC, ABS and HDC. If you want the opposite, disengage the CDL, making sure the light goes out, then switch off, startup again and then engage CDL. Al your SLABS systems will remain operating. As sierrafery says, take care to monitor your brakes, as they may be acting against what you are making the car do. Remember, LR designed the TC system to operate in the absence of the CDL, and sold cars with CDL either not present or not selectable.
TC works on a wheel by wheel basis, same as ABS.
