John if your trying to teach me something i think you need to read between the lines
Nothing i didn`t know but like i said personal opinion is everything .

Nothing else needs to be said until you have tried the product which there are plenty on converts here my self included with d2`s running Delios brakes

So seeing as i know nothing on the subject i shall move on and allow those more knowledgeable to help

Best improvement I found to my D2 brakes was a recent replacement of the original hoses with braided stainless steel. Also did the link hoses to the rear and a complete flush and new fluid.
Amazing improvement. BTW I run RDA rotors and Remsa pads. Very effective for me and an improvement over the Bendix I had on previously.

Used RDA stuff for years on customers Land Rovers and....

*Overall its hit and miss if the rotors last 20, 30 or 100K before they warp.
*Their 'extreme" or ultimax, gold bluh bluh pads are absolutely consistently rubbish and will scream like a girl with a grazed knee.
*If you must use their pads use the GP orange ones, its the cheapest pad they make.

Land Rover brakes can be a bit fussy and it got to the point I had to stop using RDA stuff, customers jumped at the cheaper price but jumped even quicker when there was brake pedal pulsing or squealing brakes.

I use any known brand including Bendix, Repco, Delphi / Lockheed etc etc.

I have those on my Range Rover.
My initial experience was they squealed a few times , then that went away. Then I started to get brake shudder.
I rang the manufacturer and he suggested I clean the grooves as brake dust build up could cause this. I couldn't see any dust embedded, but gave the discs a good hosing to wash any dust away, and that solved my problem and I haven't had an issue since.

Can anyone recommend to me an affordable rotor/pad combo for a defender td5 with ABS? Mainly after something which doesn't squeal. Thanks

Affordable is not really ideal where brakes are concerned

Do your home work and dont listen to the ones that think they know all and choose wisely and not preferable by cost.

Deefer rear brakes are really fussy when it comes to squealing.
The tiniest bit of dust and they squeal like banshees.

IME I found TRW pads to be about the best in this regard, with pretty good fade resistance and feel.

My old Deefer still has slotted DBA rotors (Brembo cores machined by DBA) that have been there for about 220,000km, I kid you not.

I'd be more than happy to substitute Delios rotors for DBA having had a lengthy chat to the man himself.
    He knows brakes.

"Sexy" just equals "really functional" for an engineer

My two-bob's is that slotted rotors work so much better than plain ones that they should be standard fit. Granted your pad wear will likely be slightly faster (in some odd circumstances it can go the other way, but generally you'll eat the pads a little bit faster). And they can create a slight whirring noise under braking (especially straight slots that are near-radial) depending on the design of the slots - the more established brands tend to be near-silent. But the added fade-resistance (out-gassing), pad bite (cleaner surface and reduced surface area), clearing, and stone-ejection (refer below) easily make up for this IMHO. For off-roading it's not uncommon to get a stone stuck in a pad which then noisily grinds a ragged groove into your disc, rendering it potentially throw-away. That can't happen with slots as they grab the embedded stone and spit it out or crunch it up. Equally you don't need to worry after a river-crossing or after driving in very heavy rain as the pads will bite through whatever is coating the disc (water, mud, *other*) within a revolution and brake normally.

If you've never tried them, please consider them next time you need new discs. But never, ever cross-drilling, and always have the slots sweeping 'backwards' so they self-clear by wiping the pad from inside to outside...

So it looks like the package is not that good, i will be going slotted now that everyone has said how good they are, just gotta decided on brand and then pads. Atm leaning towards dba t2 rotors with kangaroo paw groves, and most likely the bendix 4wd/suv pads, also going to upgrade the brake lines as i have a 2 inch lift and they strain a little on full flex on the jack stands.
