What's going on here?

I don't know exactly what's running off it but am in agree ment that it all needs to be pulled..

I know there's a fridge plug, power to the Hf box and a second battery, in the rear.

I'm leaning toward the battery boxes, such as Engel, because they include a 300W inverter, can be charged DC by lighter socket, by mains and by solar via Anderson plug..
Only slightly more expensive than a (decent) wiring kit and also have the benefit of portability.

I'll remove all the wiring and second battery, then install a couple of, good quality, 12v sockets in the rear, via an isolator switch.

You may find once you have pulled it out a lot of it may be re-usable just needs a good tidy-up. There must be some decent cable running to the back of the vehicle if its got the battery in the rear. I would be looking at that first then go from there. Be silly to disguard it all when all it may need is a good tidy up

IME, wiring that is untidy, is usually also poorly planned. Draw up a diagram of what you need now, and will likely want in the future, paying attention to wire sizes/types, fuses/links, etc. Much better in the long run.

A 300w inverter won't be good for much, 1000w would be better.

Suits my application ie. Travelling, online uni and home school for kids. The inverter will only be used for charging laptops. DC for fridge and will run the DVDs off it too.

That said, It's not usable for much else.

I got a 2kw inverter, just in case.
