Thread: TD5 External Oil Filter Installation

Please excuse the hijack but I think it's relevant: With the new fully synthetic oils and a new set of filters is it safe to extend LandRover's oil change recommendations? At 5000km my oil looks and feels lovely. What is a safe extension? I use Nulon 10/40 FS in my TD5 just about to clear 300,000.

They say that FS oils can bear up to 10K or even more miles but it depends how you drive it too, in what environment, how hot the engine and turbo gets, etc, i bought a lubrichek and there was one case when after around 9000Km the oil was broken others when it was still good at 10000Km... it's very relative, it can save you money IMO if you are up to fidddle with it, see this Buy Digital Motor & Engine Oil Tester Online – Lubricheck , maybe there is an australian version too cos i know a UK version exists
