I have been having similar issues with mine the last couple of days. Will have to wait for a seconds to a minute or so till it engages into gear, and as well has a hard time shifting up, getting higher than usual revs. Just had the transmission oil flushed out and fresh added with an additive to help clean out any clogs.

Yea I will be. Going to be getting it properly checked out on monday, but from chats I've been having, it may need a full rebuild.

I would be going with a oil pump failure, quick question was trans filter changed after reco? I changed mine after 5000km because oil temps started to climb the faster I went which pointed to oil pump starting to cavitate.

easy way to see if drive has failed to pump start car and undo oil level plug if a lot of oil comes out points towards pump not turning which is what happened to mine.
disco seriesII mods so far:-bullbar,hyd winch,
detriot locker, lsd front,C.D.L kit, chipped and bigger intercooler,2" lift, rock sliders, lsd in transfer case, modified auto trans.

yep oil pump failure will stop you dead in the tracks instantly. They give no prior warning, no noise, no bang, nothing , one moment all is good and your driving, then if they go whilst your driving the engine just starts reving and the vehicle coasts on rolling momentum alone.

Oil pump would not give the symptoms of grabby reverse. The A clutch can.

Either way it's a box out job though.

it was Grabby in reverse at first but then then nothing after Jason said, nothing in forward and reverse, so this would indicate a pump. `

Mine was doing some weird stuff before it failed it would hold a gear or sometimes seem to take its time when changing direction which I put down to sticking valves from crud which turned out to be the case when I stripped it.

Took a lot to get the spools to come out of their housings had to heat the housings to get them to come out as did not want to force them out. but yes it is going to be a box out job and can be pricey start hunting for parts and remember a lot of cars run these boxes, I used parts out of the V8 beemer for my rebuild and got it cheap.

Grabby in reverse and then failure to proceed is exactly what mine did, Mario. A clutch was the issue.

As as I said though, either way it's a box out and strip job.

Yes, regular changes and filter kits when needed. Using Penrite full synthetic.
I will check the trans fluid level in the next few days. Thanks for the tip.

    Cheers,

    Jason

Jason it probably would of failed with no synthetic, but would have been cheaper.
