I remember reading about this on a post, but for someone who had power losses from a cold start. I didn't think it was a candidate in my case due to how the issue comes in and out - therefore suspected something electrical.

I just finished a 2 hour round trip with 20 minutes of idle time in the middle. 18C ouside temp, full speed on the tollway on the way out, stop and start traffic on 40-60 roads on the way back in. The power loss cropped up half way on the way home, and happened at every stop for about 15 minutes, then didn't happen again... This makes me think the fuel temp sensor might not be the culprit as I would expect the issue to remain until the car/tank cooled down. Still planning on unplugging it for a test if I figure out how to get the bloody spring clip off.

Is there a way to diagnose the boost hoses without taking the whole thing apart? I don't think I'll have time to get on the tools in the next couple of days, and would ideally like to get the parts in before everyone shuts for the year.

You only need a Phillips head screwdriver or maybe a blade one if someone has fitted different clamps.
Take off the fan ducting by turning the two holding thingos a half turn, remove the inlet hose with MAF, and you have access to the hose from turbo to intercooler.
If you remove the fan , it is easier to reach the other side and you need a big or special fan spanner for that and a hammer.
Also I guess you have to remove the engine cover which is held by 3x13mm bolts.

The spring clip does not come off, you have to compress it to release the the plug. Try doing the opposite of what ever you have been trying to do.

Interesting, I assumed it was the same process as the MAF plug... Thanks for that.

Re: Intercooler hoses, I know for a fact they have been changed before as they are blue silicon hoses. Which shouldn't be collapsing?

OK...

I just pulled the air intake, engine breather tube and the intercooler/manifold hose. It was too dark to pull the turbo/intercooler hose (do not have a garage, only have 2 hands).

There is a fair amount of oil in all of them. I've never looked in these so have no idea what is a tolerable amount. The breather tube had pretty thick sediment as seen on my finger - I suppose some amount of crud is to be expected of something that redirects the engine emissions, but isn't it a worry for this kind of stuff to go back into the turbo?

Other than that, all intercooler hoses felt pretty firm. The intercooler/manifold had one slightly softer spot about the size of the tip of my finger on the side towards the fan, but by no means wearing thin.

Apologise the cruddy photos, hard to hold a worklight, a tube and a camera in alignment with two greasy mitts. Also AULRO seems to always rotate my photos into landscape...

Also check EGR, if not already bypassed.

Currently I don't have the nanocom(don't need it), but I can try to seconder it one day soon.
