That is what I get when mostly 110 on highway - good result if that was from mixed driving.

Mixed drivers as well. The learner driver drove about 140kms of the 236km trip to Lardner Park and back.
The car is a manual and I have a soft right foot.

I get that in town. I'm still amazed how fuel efficient td5 discos are. Especially compared to my previous car subaru outback which used to do 12lt in town, and disco being about 700kg heavier.

I would have expected better than that. I got 12.9 out of my 4.4 litre V8 petrol L322 last weekend over about 1,300km from Sydney down to the Snowy (Cooma, Jindabyne, Khancoban, Corryong, Adaminaby) and back last weekend.

On a long highway run it is better. 700kms of this is just pootling around the suburbs

Sorry to wreck the party, but i got in the high 8l/100 in my D2a on two occasions, both times over 1100km to the tank.

Once with just driver on a trip to Townsville, and the other loaded, on the way back from the Cape, back on the black top, stuck behind slow traffic for the whole tank, averaging around 80 to 90km/hr all the time.

Unladen the d2 td5 is a very economical beast. Heavily laden with stuff on the roof they have to be on boost a lot more and the gap then on the highway between a v8 d2 and td5 is quite close.

My brothers current shape Collorado auto was high 9's on the highway stock unladen. Then he put a 3 inch lift, barwork, steel 16 inch rims and 33 inch Duratracs and a very thick glass canopy on and unladen on the highway it went to high 12 low 13 l.per 100k. It seemed like it was set up for optimum economy for it's stock weight and anything over caused grief.

    Cheers
