Auto or manual?
With 250K on the clock - the auto maybe getting a bit tired and should budget for a future rebuild - only if it has not been done recently.

I figure this will be interesting for anyone that finds this thread. It’s an electric switch conversion.

I just traded my 2000 model auto on a 2003 D2a manual.
i had 360,000km on mine and running strong.
Head was done at 285,000. Auto either done a long time ago or still chugging on...
i was was changing the auto fluid every 20-30,000
MSB ecu from early models can be hacked and the chip replaced.
I have a chipped ecu with a TRS tune on it, goes like stink.
Ive kept it when selling the old car so it's now surplus, as the new one has a flashable ecu and it's a manual...
CDL from a 2a is hard to find but bolts right in. www.discovery2.co.uk has a write up with step by step photos of how to do this, an excellent site well worth reading!
I left my linkage on the car as the 2a I bought came with it factory installed...
I think I paid around $300 for the linkage and considered it a very good price indeed...new they are something like $700 plus...
electric actuators have a reputation for dying...
one mod mod I did was fitting the trans sump from a D1...needed a bit of tweaking but they have a dipstick tube for easier level checks.
I had to do much trial and error but eventually got the tube gently bent so it fits between the rear two intake manifold runners and hides nicely under the acoustic cover.
Removing the acoustic cover to check the fluid is easier than going under and pulling the bung with engine running....and filling the trans is so much easier!
