    Td5 fuel cooler hose diameter

    Hi Guys,

Does anyone know the diameter of the 3 coolant hoses which connect to the fuel cooler?

I am looking at carrying a T Piece and some extra hose so I can do an emergency bypass if it ever fails in the field...

    Cheers, Charles

Im not sure why any concern about this.
It wont fail like that. Make the effort instead to change the o rings out and forget about it for the next 10 years.
Even if you dont change the o rings. the cooler weeps/leaks rather than catastrophic failure.

With respect, if this is a concern, its time to ditch the vehicle and buy something new with a better perception of reliability or maintain the one you have properly rather than thinking of "Macgyvering" a vehicle that shouldnt be "in the field" in the first place.

Thanks for replying - my vehicle is maintained very well and I replace parts preventatively. Whilst fuel coolers don't tend to fail spectacularly, a simple bypass for the fuel cooler lines is, to me, in the same vein as the SLS emergency bypass kit I carry.

Certainly an option except then you will have very hot fuel heading into the tank and pump. Probably wont get too far before another problem caused by it occurs.
    Just my 2 cents

Interesting point... I have always wondered whether it is really a cooler or a warmer for norther climes. I worked in Africa for a while and was given a very rough Td5 Defender as a work vehicle where fuel cooler (and many other things) had been removed completely. Damn thing never missed a beat in thousands of kms of hot weather use.

Note: I am NOT suggesting deleting fuel cooler is a good idea.

    Cheers, Charles
