some times they are actually better then worm drive clamps for not leaking if you are referring to jubilee clamps

Exactly. I've seen a few broken radiator outlets where people have fitted worm drive clips to stop a leak instead of replacing the hose. They keep tightening the worm drive until the outlet snaps off. Spring clamps don't need retightening after installation either.
I'm quite happy with spring clamps as I have the right tool to remove/refit them:

It locks when one releases the spring clamp and holds it in the open position.
Yes I have one of them but I also bought one with a cable on it to get to the tough ones down near the thermostat. Cheap from China.Quote:
