1. The information for te brake light relay fault in that link is mostly correct except the wire colours for the connector's pins cos it's BG not GY (provided RAVE is not wrong)
2. The output(which is Green/purple) has nothing to do with the fault cos only the coil is monitored by the ECU, if it was a short to ground on the output the fuse should have blown... so it's C0586 - 13 BG wire or at the ECU C0506 - 12 (hardwired between these)
Unfortunately there's quite a mess in the diagrams too cos the same relay appears as R222(HDC relay) in then ABS diagrams and R204(Brake light relay) in the engine management with output from C0586 -16 at ABS and C0588 -16 at EMS in > 03 version and C0588 -16 for both in < 03 so it's hard to troubleshoot like this
IMO at the price of a good SH fusebox it doesn't worth the hassle to trace tracks within it but it's good to check the wiring to not be a short there
