Disco 2 sideview mirrors too small

good idea! my only problem with those particular mirrors is that they stick out too far. I would just like higher mirrors really, maybe a touch wider but not that wide. Maybe they could do the same mirror without the extended arms? I think maybe the mirrors on my other car had a more convex shape, you could see the blind spot clearly.

I do all that, more just looking for more ease while driving. I like to keep an awareness of what's going on in from AND behind esp on the HWY. I think the larger mirrors reduce fatigue, and help to make you more aware

Those extended mirrors are excellent for towing, you'd be surprised how much they help. rear cam would probs be better though. sounds like you got lucky mate, fuzzies aren't always that nice.

Just get some convex glass put into the standard mirror if you don’t like them.

The D2 was the last one with flat glass - the D3 has Convex on both sides.... removes blind spot but makes distance a bitch!

Now on both cars.

Can't recall if first set were from Repco or Auto/Supercheap, and second set were more recently found at Autobarn. Don't see them around all that often, so may have to order them in. I'm very happy with the "adjustable" additional peripheral views, and having 2 separately adjustable convex mirrors on each item gives a very good spread sideways and up and down to supplement the disco marginal mirrors.


Tip - if you also use extension mirrors with arms that clip over your existing ones, place the little convex ones on the best place to re-inforce the clipons so they won't droop or otherwise move - ask me how I know! From experience, I found the best location was top centre, plus I put a rivet in, in addition to the two way fixing tape.

The reason he followed me was to have a bitch about my speed. I had just left a 60 kph zone that turned to 90kph, it was a single lane, he reckons I wasn't traveling fast enough. I told him I can't accelerate that fast in a D1 towing a boat,it takes a little bit longer because of the tonnes, besides I was turning off to the right not far up the road so it I had of built up speed I would only have to plant the anchors shortly after. Sitting in my blind spot and being on a single laned road with no shoulder to pull over in safely to I had to travel a bit further before I pulled over, I wasn't in the mood for bull faeces from him. His attitude was not good, if I had of done something wrong I'm sure he would have booked me.

I bought a pair of those Clearview mirrors. They stick out too far in the retracted position, exacerbating the blind spot and they don't extend far enough to see past a full width trailer.

Personally i dont have a issue with the D2 mirrors and as a driver for a occupation i could drive up to 5 + different vehicle`s in a day so you learn to adapt [wink11]
