    Dayco balancer

Hi all brought a dayco harmonic balancer online from a local supplier so on Wednesday I took my d2 td5 to my machinic he fitted it and low and be hold it failed . So being in Brisbane I though I'll take it around to them they told me they couldn't accept it that I would have to fill in a dayco warranty claim form and send it back to the same shop I was standing in talking to the same person who will then send it to dayco to make sure it is a warranty claim. This part didn't even last start up thinking I may be getting the run around is it normal for the dealer to request a warranty claim form from me or should they be doing that I had receipt and machinic account to prove that I brought it from them and a qualified machinic had fitted it. My options of dayco has changed after this and a problem I had with another one of there products. h

How long ago did you purchase it? Months? Days?

It's the seller's responsibility to replace it.

If the unit has failed and it wasn’t from poor installation (ie: the bolt hasn’t unwound and the unit fallen off) then should be the sellers responsibility. If they give you the run around, contact consumer affairs. They are remarkably helpful and are often just the kick a seller requires to do the right thing. Good luck. Josh

We had a Dayco HB fail a couple of months ago after only about 2000 kms. Which I replaced for the customer straight way and sorted out the warranty claim between the supplier and myself, that way my customer was not without vehicle for long.
Unfortunately with warranty claims some retailers wont like forking out their own money to rectify the problem they want to go through the manufacturers inspection for a decision on a claim. This is the issue you you either wait, unable to use the vehicle or you are forced to pay for another part and then wait for the sometimes 1 month or 2 process to get your claim approved. Then add overseas purchases from UK and have a problem, you have to pay for freight back to UK for warranty and wait.
See my post Number 15. is this the same problem you have with yours?
