uses both lines, and will shut off 90% of flow to cooler until the thermostat opens

in my case for the auto,,

but it does pose a question----

Do I place it in line before the STOCK cooler?
or after the stock cooler before the 2nd cooler?

or should I put one in BOTH places??

Considering the only job it does is to enable faster fluid warm up / regulation , before both coolers
Just means it'll be working more than if you had one cooler( or not open as far ).
My assumption was based on this being an engine oil cooler thread , ( one should never assume:-)

After the standard cooler, let it do its job and use it open to the second cooler when required, also if there is a failure you will still have standard cooling operational. My Humble opinion.

    Cheers tt

May be OK , but with an extra 10% going through the second cooler there's a strong chance when not towing on a winters day in lock up of running too cool, and you might as well , if you're going to the trouble of fitting one , use it for warming the oil quickly .
Yes ,you're introducing another potential for failure by fitting one in the first place, but if you've fitted a larger / twin cooler set up along with an oil temp gauge/ warning , because you tow heavy stuff on hot days then you're better off .
There are pro's and cons , but if used with a larger cooler, and are in high load / low speed situations in hot weather, towing heavy, out of lock up a lot, OR, live in a cold climate then the pros have the heavy end of the scales
