change water pump without moving filters?

Car is 2002 TD5 auto . I lose a tiny bit of coolant say 100ml in 6 months, and I recently saw some white stain marks below the bleed hole.

I had a look at the "how to" in projects and have recently read an LRO how to where they eventually removed the power steering pump bracket. The "how to" in projects even removed the turbo!

This seems sensible as there is an Oring that should be changed between the bracket and the block. Yet another "hidden" component.

It seems to me that I would not have to remove the centrifugal filter and oil filter by removing the bracket with the water pump still in it.

The LRO team did it the normal way then stated it all would have been easier if they had removed the bracket , as they still could not get the water pump out even with the centrifugal filter and the oil filter removed. They did the job on a very old rusted car where the power steering pump also had to be replaced as the dogs connected to the water pump were worn. They fitted the water pump to the bracket off the car which would be much easier and suggests that the bracket can be removed ,seeing they refitted it with the pump attached to the bracket.

Has anyone done the job this way? Can you get to all of the bracket mounting bolts with the water pump still attached? The LRO report said that all were reachable although a UJ was needed for a couple .( but they had half removed the water pump)
Any comments are welcome. I would much prefer it to do it from the front .
    Regards Philip A

I used the justinc™ method to do the pump and gasket.

You remove the ps bracket leaving the pump in place. If you do it this way you don't have to touch the centrifugal filter or turbo. You can remove and refit the pump with the bracket out of the car.

    YAY!

having just done this today you can do it both way's
as i managed to get the pump out with just having the centrifugal filter loose took some twisting and turning but did come out, but it would be a ***** to put back in and make sure the o rings stayed in place etc.
i then realized where that extra o ring was meant to go and pulled the bracket, this is a much much easier and faster way to do it with only 1 bolt being a ***** to do due to the water pump cover.
while your there you can also drill some holes to let water out of the bracket where it has no drains.

This from the Discovery2 site. Looks like a bit of a nightmare.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
