    Watchdog

I am looking at putting at temp protector for water on my Disco2 TD5, when on farm on irrigation pumps we called them watchdogs, and if any thing went wrong switched the system off,
Can any one point me in right direction for a good one that will shut engine down if water temp gets to hot

You are much better off installing a coolant level alarm and if you have the v8 you can also run an OBD2 reader to moniter the coolant temperature, The temp gauge in the D2's are worse than useless as by the time they show a high temp it is usually too late to prevent engine damage.

Ultraguage allows alarms both visual and audible for things like temp. And Engine Saver made by Dave on this forum is excellent - ever so slight drop in top hose water level causes a screamer to go off and a red warning light to come on. I wouldn't be without both systems. Cheers.

Another alternative is the MadMan EMS (Engine Management System?) which is capable of many other functions too (which you may be interested in or become so). Plenty of the threads already on these so search away now that you've got the names to get you started.
