My Disco2 TD5 did not start this morning

    Hi all
I put the key in, turned it to get ready to crank but couldn't start it. The lights were on and when I tried to crank it, i could not hear any clicking noise. Checked the battery, the green light was on. I doubt the issue is to do with the starter as I had it serviced about 18 months ago. Last time I drove it was on sunday and it was all fine. I'll get NRMA to come and check it this weekend.
So, if it's not the battery, alternator or starter, what could be the reason? Just getting myself ready for any other scenario. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It may be simply that the spade connector to the starter solenoid may have come off, a very common problem.

Thanks for your responses. My disco decided to start without any issues over the weekend. Got NRMA to check the battery and alternator which were all fine, no issues. Was told it might be a starter motor problem even though I had it reconditioned less than 2 years ago. There was a bit of a diesel leak to it off the fuel pressure regulator for some time until it was fixed. That leak might have effected the starter motor, not sure. I also checked the spade connector which looked ok. I'll keep fingers crossed so doesn't happen again anytime soon.

One last question. Would it be worth checking the fault codes using a Nanocom? Would it report any issues re xyz switch?

My money is on the fuel leak, on the starter motor.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Just to close this thread off, the issue was the spade connector to starter solenoid. A bit of WD40 spray fixed the issue. It had come off a bit and the contacts were dirty. Since then, my disco started at first attempt each time. Thanks again for your assistance.
