Winch for the D2. any suggestions?

    The Sherpa looks the goods.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

I'm currently running an Aldi winch on the front of my D2. Haven't had to use it in anger yet but from the preliminary tests I've done it runs fine.

Only reason I have this is because it was came with the bar I bought.

Next winch will be from the 4WD Supa Centre either a Grande or Domin8r. Both under $400 for a 12000LB winch.

    Hope this helps a bit.

I have a supacentre grande. Haven’t had a chance to use it in a recovery , but everything was there for an easy install.

I'm using a Warrior 9500 and it's not let me down yet. Has been used in anger a few times. Bought in AUS but now using it in UK and the support for parts this end is supberb from their head office here.

Tirfor type can also winch vehicle backwards/sideways, doesn't need electrical power, easy to move from vehicle to vehicle. One possible drawback is the cable can be damaged by a "normal" winch cable pulley block, as it doesn't take tight a radius.

Well, as reliable as the operator.

I need to get my Tirfor out of storage. I have the snatch block here though.

Tirfor, buy it second hand if you get one. They only ever get used once.

They also scare me because if anything lets go it'll take your head off!
