I don’t know the answer ....couple of extra roof bars to spread the load ?
but if looking at the James Baroud tents ,have a compare to the Back Traxs ,very similar .
Does anyone have experience with these james broud roof top tents in relation to economy and d2s roof gutters being able to handle the weight plus Weight of 2 adults sleeping in it.
Vaguely remember reading somewhere here about b pillar cracks?

Sorry , I also remember something about the static load being 4 times the roof rack capacity , so if 75kg cap the roof is designed to take a static load of 300kg .
but I’m a fat bugger @ 100kg !
Thanks, looked as suggested ended up looking at ikamper 2x seems impressive yeh I'm just over the 100 should be ok if decide to go that way, might be cheaper than towing the caravan across to wa etc with the price of fuel sigh.
Biggest pain for us was the ladder.......
It would be Easier to pack up than RTT
Less room for getting changed when others are around
Check that you can sit upright at least, that would be a pain if you could
Less chance of bedding getting wet
There are a lot of D2’s with roof rack..don’t see too many issues popping up here
Don’t worry about fuel.
Im not an engineer, But in field testing i have found the roof to be more then capable for a couple of bogans parking in the middle of a stream, climbing onto the roof with camp chairs and large icebox and fishing for 3-4 hours.
Would have to be easy 250kg load with a sufficiently stocked icebox we were packing, this is without counting the maybe 30kg+ of roof rack (very solid custom ally). I wont take the trout we were pretending to fish for into account as any we may have caught were sent straight to the cargo area to reduce the static load on the gutters.
I did not notice any pull on the steering on the way home.
The only thing thats ever been on my roof is the sun,,
and its still cracked the weld on the B pillar,,
genuine roof bars are rated to 30kgs?

Yes I have cracked weld at B pillar too. My roof cops a flogging though.
Had a hardshell rooftop tent mounted on three gutter-mounted crossbars. 70kg + 2 light adults.
Am now running full length rack mounted on same three crossbars. I climb on it, cart ****loads of wood, spare wheel, chainsaw etc. All this through all terrain.
Food for thought....
One of my good customers does roof top clams, see vid, and they drive Land Rovers .
