2 and 3 track throttle position sensors

    G'day all,

Hoping somone might be able to clarify precisely when the three track pedals replaced the two track ones.

Think mine is on the way out... 2002 td5 auto. Not facelift.

Last 6 numbers of Vin 744895

    Thanks

Can’t answer your question specifically but my 2002 has a 3 track
If you have a Nanocom it will tell you
Pretty sure MY 2001 had 2 track that changed to 3 track in 2002

dont know but, you can look at the part number on it.
3 track part number is SLC000020PMA (supercedes to LR030567)
Vehicle can be set for either.

Found this, from vin number indicated it's a three track pedal.

    Thanks all!

Hi, unfortunately the workshop manuals seems to not be 100% accurate all the times, IMO it's the other way around than in the note from your document and in the green note in the attached document which is copied from the 2002 D2 wsm(VDR100090 6'th edition) where the VIN is different too ... if you apply logic you'll see that the 3 track instead 2(not vice versa) is the correct way cos you'll not be able to set a 2 track pot to 3 track with tester as track 3 is physically missing in the 2 track one...also what they say that you can set the ECM for either TPs is wrong cos even if a Eu2 ECU will accept the 3 track setting and vice-versa if the setting is not the correct one(Eu2 = 2 track, Eu3 = 3 track) the engine will run only at idle. That statement with "replacement ECMs can be fitted to all modells" is also exagerated cos they seem to miss that there are fuel maps in them too for Eu2 or Eu3 versions

Another evidence that it's wrong in the manual is that the latest version TPS which is deffinitely 3 track and supersedes the 2 track one is suitable for all modells which seems correct to me as the 2 track pot is obsolete and if you search it by part number you'll be sent to the number which supersedes it... example Throttle Pedal Petentiometer LR030567 (SLC000020PMA) Island 4x4 - Specialists in Land Rover and Range Rover Parts and accessories for all models. UK and worldwide mail order. ...so as long as this one fits all modells the notes from the WSMs are wrong

So, if your dillema about what kind of TPS is on your car is cos you want to replace it better dont believe that note and put 3 track on it cos being from 2002 it's most probably Eu3 engine

    Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned

    Hmm, all very confusing.

Thankfully found a 3 track locally and fitted it. Runs great now, no reprogramming required.

I found when I checked with my Nanocom soon after buying it a few years ago, that mine (2002 TD5 auto) was set to 2 track, and being an EU3 should be 3track.
I reset to 3 track and there was absolutely no difference in performance or anything.
