Out with the old, in with the new TD5 rad

Hoping it will be as easy as that! After chasing the leak around the top stupid spigot I'm plunging in ti replace the rad. Apart from hoses and the belt is there anything else that is worth renewing/doing while I have the front in bits?
I'm no mechanic but handy with spanners. Hoping that's enough....... I saw a YouTube of a couple of Mexicans ripping the rad out in 15 minutes, but didn't look like my setup.
    Thanks,
    Pete

Check all pulleys inc harmonic balancer , fan bearing, thermostat ?
Clean out the intercooler inside and out
Blow out / clean all the crap out of the condenser / trans cooler
    Inspect trans cooler for leaks
Don't forget to reinstall the clips for the lower fan shroud onto the new rad
Put a couple of washers under the Phillips head tappers that hold the lower fan shroud in place as some of the cheaper radiators don't have a lot of plastic below them and can leak through the screw

Good advice, thanks. How does one "check" the harmonic balancer? Is there a wobble test?
The fan has two blades with chunks missing. Am thinking this may cause some vibration. Rather than a new fan I'm thinking to cut the opposite blades to match, so it should be balanced again without making much difference to the cooling. Fair enough...?

Thanks Rob I'll have a poke around see if I can find it. Certainly not wanting to replace that too. Being a miser I'm hurting a little bit having just shelled out $750 for all ( I hope) the bits I need. I shudder to think what the local Natrad man would charge for the job. While I'm having a whinge I should point out that I'm getting all my bits from Roverlord and I'm well pleased with prices quoted and the service. Thanks Mario!
Kaye prefers to ride in the Landy rather than the Ford (who wouldn't?) and as we have to go to town tomorrow I'll not be starting the job till Sunday, which should fit in quite well with the bits arriving Tuesday, we hope.

Er whoops......I thought you were replacing the head.

As part of fitting a new head to my TD5 defer I had the radiator replaced, along with all hoses, don’t forget the one under the turbo.

I’d also take the opportunity to replace the OEM clamps with quality worm driver hose clamps

    Thanks Weeds,
Lets hope the worm drive clamps are "quality"...........SCA? As for the old LR clips I haven't worked out yet how to open them without destroying them. I've been cutting them off with a Dremel, ha ha. Not funny but true.

I usually buy hose clamps from a truck parts supply they are better quality, the Dremel is the go if you haven’t the proper tool for the original clamps.
