    TD5 Low Oil Pressure Alert

Anyone happen to know at what oil pressure the oil warning light is supposed to come on in a TD5?

    Iirc it is about 7.5psi.
You do not want to see that thing shining back at you while the engine is running AT ANY TIME

Thanks Justin. I also have an oil pressure gauge with a low pressure audio and flashing alert. The main reason for the query is that sometimes while idling back it drops to apparently about 8-10 psi and alarms at the lowest drop point then the needle swings back , but there is no light/alarm from the dash, nor have I ever had one.

No sure if its a just dodgy connection, or maybe normal behaviour for this gauge, but based on your info I'm going to drop the gauge alarm to 6psi and see if that fixes it.

The factory fitted oil pressure warning is a switch directly wired to the instrument pack and it's closed to earth so as long as it comes on with ignition and goes out when the engine was started the switch is there, on the Td5 the warning comes on if the pressure drops below 6 psi

I'd say that, in line with the coolant temp gauge the oil pressure light comes on at 2 psi below the pressure needed to fully lubricate the engine
