Have to report a successful tinker. We checked steering for play, there was a tiny clicking noise on passenger wheel, and we could find where it was coming from on a wheel alignment joint, but very minor, a knat's arse as my uncle put it.
We then put the car on axle stands, undid the steering box night and played. We adjusted until there was about inch play at 12 O'clock so the speak, as did not want to overdo it and then turned from lock to lock to check for tightness and all was fine. Tightened nut up and has made a big difference, I am steering the car now, rather than start going round a bend and then steer to go round it once the car was off course.
Maybe could have gone further, but very happy with outcome. Engineer Uncle said it was a shame that in RAVE it does not actually say how much play to aim for at the 12 O'clock position before the wheels start turning.
But a great outcome and happy camper.
Matt.
