    Big cable crimpers.

Hi all , I am going to upgrade the battery terminals on my Disco after changing my alternator but need some crimpers big enough to do the lugs when i cut the old terminals off. Firdtly si there another way tro do it and, is there someone around the Ferntree Gully area that could possibly lend a set? Cheers Brett.

I bought a set of these. It’s actually been quite invaluable. Also good for 8b&s gauge and welding cables. Personally I’d just buy one as you’ll probably find another use for it

Twenty odd years ago I needed one so attacked a cheap pair of big bolt cutters with the angle grinder. Been using them ever since.

If you don't get a chance to use crimpers from those that offered, solder.

If you have one of those gas torches that you twist onto a butane can(can be had cheaply) .. heat up lug, fill with solder.
Add cable .. it will stick.
Heat up again and remove cable. Cable is now nicely soldered.
Repeat again with the now pre soldered cable to give a better solder.

Gives a stronger attachment to cable .. and less likely to suffer corrosion loosening I reckon over time.
I also have the same crimp tool as John_D2 .. works well .. much cleaner than having solder sloshing everywhere!

I'm in Coburg is that's easier for 'ya.
