I pulled the carpet holder trim to see what it was like underneath the carpet. The floor has no rust but the carpet foam underlay is still wet. Could someone tell me where the water leaks on the inside pls? Pulled the cover under the glovebox but couldn’t see the dripping spot.

the best way to find a roof leak is to remove the lining, get in the car and have someone hose the roof....[bighmmm]

That's what I did but the blower unit under the glovebox was dry - though I didn't check the foam backing which I'll do. I may have to do a wet test, pour some water over the crack on the panel into the air intake and see if water comes in. The air intake may be partially blocked with some leaves and debris due to the crack.
Is there any other drain hole anywhere related to the aircon system?
When I first noticed this issue as I was driving in the rain, I had the aircon on and noticed a bit of fog at the bottom of the windscreen. I thought it was unusual but am not sure if this has any relevance to my problem.

There has to be an outlet underneath the truck for the condensation to be able to drain from the AC because quite often when I run my AC on my D2a especially during high humidity I notice water underneath the truck when I pull up at a servo or any other flat area.
IF these outlets or the tubes going to them are blocked it would explain the water inside the cab.
I just had a look at "RAVE" and I couldn't see them mentioned But they must be there somewhere because ALL AC units produce moisture and it HAS to go somewhere.
Highly likely that the drain holes are blocked. I had that same problem (soaking wet carpets) on my old soft dash classic years ago which had a similar dash layout. Cleaning the drains resulted in a flood of water escaping. The drains come out either side of the transmission and have a little conical rubber vent in them. If you're not getting water on the ground after driving in our summer weather, they are likely to be blocked. Removing the vent and running a short length of wipper snipper cord should clear the problem. Be gentle though with said wipper snipper cord, you don't want to break or put a hole in the system where its not wanted.
There is a common mod for D2s to divert the drains as the drip on the auto XYZ switch and front drive shaft CV joint causing problems over time. Googling this should throw up some underside pics of where the drains are located.
