Newbie question - What is this??

The feed pipe from the pump to the block has an atenuator in it which might have lost strenght over the years. IMO if you want to get rid of that noise you'll have to replace that pipe with a new one.

From RAVE: “System pipes Fluid is moved through the ACE system via a series of pipes and hoses. The pipes are mounted on brackets at strategic points to assure quiet operation of the system. The pipes from the pump to the valve block and from the valve block to the reservoir are one piece items which are fitted at the factory before the body is attached to the chassis. If these pipes require replacement in service, the pipes must be cut to facilitate their removal. 'In service' replacement pipes are available in two parts with a connector to seal the joint.”

Does that mean the pipe from pump to valve block needs to be cut to removed?

You need only the side with the atenuator in it... provided the noise you hear are those waves which are supposed to be damped by it not some mechanical whine

No not mechanical. A whoosh a bit like an air release type of sound from a truck but not as loud & 100% certain it’s coming from the valve block. Definitely not coming from the SLS (100% certain). I’ll check, but if the pipe has never been replaced don’t I need both 1/2’s? It’s impossible to record the sound as the noisy TD5 needs to be running to hear it.

(I’m not taking over this thread, rather it sounds like the OP is having the same issue as me)

If your original pipe is one piece all the way to the block and needs to be cut you can use compression fitting to join the metal sides no need to buy a piece which is aleady there
