My D1 has no boot on the gearshift. And no carpet. Thing absolutely roasts my left leg on a warm day. Will it do that on a cold one??? Guess.

    I bet it does!

I've just changed the gear selector bias plate on my D1, there was the console, a wad of insulation padding that was really thick and a rubber bush to keep the mud, water and hot air out. The AC duct through there, so no cooling air from under the console if the boots are not fitted.

I had exactly the same warm issue, both the middle console box, and along side of my left leg which I even thought myself getting rid of the car.

However, I did remove my floor and put about 5 layers of this aluminium heat shield (it is a very thin layer) on the floor all around the centre console and side and half of bottom seat area. Cost only 1.5 x packs of them which is total $25.

Now my leg and my console is cool as normal.

This brings memories of a TV show? with a hot box added to the exhaust. They also cooked a chicken fillet in a couple of zip seal bags in a dish washer.

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.
