    The end of the road

    Hi all.
Last week my D2 TD5 had a fire in the back caused by a crook lipo battery.
It burned the rear door card and the rhs rear storage locker area before extinguishing itself from lack of oxygen.
The car has been written off because of the stinking soot it caused.

I spent about $18000.00 on this car and now it is dead. So I would like to say thank you to all the fellow members who have helped me over the past years. and goodbye to all. Dave please drop me off the paying members list for next year.
    All the best.
    Nick Viner ( Worane)
PS. I will have some bits for sale soon.

That sucks...I feel for you....why can’t you call the insurance company and ask if you can buy it back?...no harm in asking ...then if they do buy another and swap ..or fix yours up..it’s not the vehicles fault the battery caught on fire..it could have been in a Toyota.
If you like the vehicles then get another..no need for you to leave!..have a think about it and maybe reconsider...if you go I will miss your posts.😩

I'm not sure how to PM you but I have a set of d2 bumper lights and stainless A bar plus a good d2 front bumper and grill. head lights good rear seats in Epsom green colour code plus wagon (7 seater) X 2 rear seats plus six good 18 inch alloy wheels.
I have an almost full set of engine hoses all new. spare used alternator, starter motor, throttle pedal.
timing pins and a full TD5 rebuildable engine that lost its oil pump bolt. Oh yes and a good used fuel pump.
I think this should be in the spare parts page, which is why I said I would have bits for sale later.

Sorry for your loss, What do you mean a "crook Lipo battery "

Was it a Drone/ RC or other non Automotive battery on charge , or a 12v Aux LFP battery on charge or a battery self combust without being on charge ??

It was a small lipo from a R/C plane. it was charged the night before and I was getting the car out for my wife to use for the day instead of her freshly washed MX5.

I left it in the back of the LR whilst I had breakfast and came out to find the carnage. The flames had gone out due to oxygen starvation I think. It was not the way I wanted to part with my beautiful LR. I had just about got it perfect.

The battery was worth about $25.00.

I thought insurance companies had to give you first refusal on the wreck?
    You'll be back.
