Thread: Slow Drain

This potentially may be normal.

Early in the D2's life there was a problem with battery drain and a service was done that brought forward the sleep mode. You will know its in sleep mode when the central locking doesn't work and you have to wake it up by using the key, then the keys remote.

If the battery is a bit margial, this might tip it over the edge.

A couple of weeks ago I also had a battery going dead after a couple of days, in my new Mazda CX-3.

Called the RAA, he jump started it, but didn't notice a problem.

A week or so later another RAA bod was back again for the same problem. Took it back to the Mazda Agent who checked it as well.

They found a drain going on ie. "Parasitic Current Draw", he expected .02v but was in the vicinity of .15v

Long story short, I went back to the Auto Elecs & they found it was the after market 'Heads Up Display' supplied by me that was doing it. Plugged into the OBD2 16 pin plug.

Had normally been left switched on overnight (no reason not to at the time) but now since it has a small Slider Switch it gets turned off & no dramas since.

They had also suspected it may have been the External Folding Mirror module. That was ok. ie. When the car is locked the side mirrors fold in/back, so are difficult to be damaged at a few hundred quid each to replace.
