    Drag link for your info

    Hi all

Not sure if this has come up before but here it goes
6 months ago bought a new drag link to replace a worn tie rod end
Well as the wife was leaving home luckily at low speed with child on board the new drag link snapped
I am no engineer but It appears the tie rod end stops at end of crimp causing a week spot

Was it from China? Or a recognised brand?

    That's atrocious.

What brand? They're not all the same level of quality. Buy cheap, buy twice.

Well I'd be contacting the "reputable" supplier and demanding a refund, and then some!
That could have been alot worse!!!
That's a major component that should not fail like that.

Also check the steering box side of thr front panhard mount for weld failure..usually the vertical weld which splits allowing the bracket to hinge...very scary if it lets go at 110kph.

Easy fix and strengthening this assembly is highly recomnended too..ie welding in the gaps left by LRs lazyness!

Who the supplier is is somewhat irrelevant as most can source and supply a variety of different brand products. The brand/manufacturer of the actual part is the relevant detail.

Hope you have a better run with the Terrafirma unit but they can also be a bit iffy with wide range of various pieces they make and sell - as far as I am aware they are actually just a sub brand of AllMakes4x4. Personally I’d recommend sticking with genuine or OEM.

Second picture shows a fracture being there for some time . Possibly over crimped.
