    Key Fob Micro-switch

    Morning all,

My keys have finally perished and I lost the micro-switch to open the doors, I have been able to de-activate the immobilizer using the Nanocom, and ordered a replacement key shell off ebay. Frustratingly the micro-switched that came with it are too small, has anyone done the same and where did they get the right size micro-switch from ?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

    Matt.

You should send it back, get a refund and buy from other seller... i bought a kit like that few years ago from a UK seller and all was good... though how are they too small ?, they dont fit on the PCB or they dont reach the shell's buttons

Thanks Sierraferry, I bought it yonks ago, then more recently bought a new key holder, rectangular that looks like a newer D3 or D4 key and transfers the guts into it, but need to get key cut which I have done. The switch does not quite reach far enough across the two points it needs to connect to, I took it to a very helpful guy at a key cutting place and he did it, but said it would not hold for long and get a bigger size, it came loose when he tried some additional solder so we gave up.

I went to Jaycar yesterday and have found I think what I need, bigger one, but with a square button, I could have a go myself, but think I will take it back to him to do.

    Cheers,

    Matt.

    Hi Matt,

I've "modified" various remotes in the past.
Have fixed similar to what you're currently experiencing. Have been throwing a soldering iron at many things since I was knee high to a grasshopper.

Am happy to have a look and solder/glue (surface mount) a new switch to the PCB if you get stuck.

If you can pm me, or post here, whichever, a pic of the difference in distance(s), then I may be able to sort it for you.....

No charge/cost, it sounds like a 5min job. Not drumming up business for myself or anything, just think I can help.
I live "near you", just down at the bottom of the hill....

    Cheers,
    Mark.
