    turbo waste gate boost controler

Hi all a quick question has any one removed the waste gate boost controler from thier D2 td5 if so what differance has it made good or bad. Iam told the defender doesn't have this controler if it works without the controler and has no bad effects on the way the car runs how do I do it I can't find anywhere where it explains how to do it thanks for your help.
    Thanks Phil

If you suspect it's faulty buy a new one and replace the connection hoses with new ones

I thought the article was wrong. The air intake pre turbo is only ever under vacuum not pressure and the waste gate actuator is vacuum driven, the modulator controlling the amount of vacuum delivered to the waste gate.

""When full boost is reached a control signal is sent to the wastegate modulator, and a vacuum is applied to the wastegate valve.

Interestingly this sentence incorrectly states that vacuum rather than boost operates the waste gate valve. This is often excused as a typo but there is clearly an error in the statement.""

I would say the Rave statement is correct.

No RAVE is in error on that point. The TD5 Garrett turbo waste-gate is operated by boost pressure. One method used to test the operation of the waste-gate actuator is to apply pressure with a common sports ball hand inflation pump.

Also it's quite obvious that RAVE is wrong as long as the modulator's hoses are connected to the turbo outlet and the intake, non of them is linked to the vacuum circuit... Offtrack's article is the real thing
