If those pictures are correct , you had better be VERY careful when you grease the splines.
In fact I would take it off and compress it fully before adding grease to the splines.
The results are not pretty if the splines hydraulically lock.
if you suddenly feel a vibration after greasing, then you have too much grease in there.
this happened to me in Amman of all places with my RRC, but I was able to find a workshop with a hoist and we cleaned it out.

Tom Woods front drive shaft fitment

A few side by side pictures for comparison with the original driveshaft in the fully compressed position. You will note that the Tom Woods shaft has about an extra inch of exposed spline section - so it can compress more.

If I recall correctly the length of the spline is longer than the original.

Thanks for the pictures everyone. I feel a bit better now seeing that's how it is. I'll have to get a measurement and compare it with the one toppa took on his D2.
I can't read the numbers clearly enough Toppa, but are you able to tell me what the length of the spline showing was?
    Cheers

I’ve found with the 6+ years that I’ve been running mine that I can grease it through the grease nipple while fitted. Any Excess grease will squeeze out through that seal on compression as the vehicle travels.

I have included a picture so you can see.
To anyone that has installed one on there D2, does that much of the spline showing look right to you? Also should there be some sort of dust cover to stop water and dirt getting in there?

    Thanks
    Chris
